Painted Skin: The Resurrection

Painted Skin: The Resurrection (2012)

The Plot: Painted Skin: The Resurrection tells the story of ancient spirit Xiaowei (Zhou Xun) who, after being released from an icy grave, intends to become human once again. She plans to use young Princess Jing (Zhao Wei) in order to attain this goal. However, currently the princess is preoccupied with her love for a guard named Huo Xin (played by Chen Kun). Unfortunately, the princess has no faith in her own beauty because she was scarred in an unfortunate attack that Huo Xin was unable to protect her against. Time and space has driven them apart, but these two now have the ability to come together – but if they do, it could mean great conflict in the kingdom. Meanwhile, Xiaowei needs the heart of a decent man in order to venture into the mortal world. When the princess barters with this icy spirit, she compromises her own soul – along with Huo Xin, who may be the decent man that Xiaowei requires.

Autopsy

The Plot: Autopsy follows Simona Sana (Mimsy Farmer) who is a medical student in the process of writing her thesis on differentiating between actual suicides and simulated ones. While this goes on, Italy is being ravaged by a string of suicide deaths that have been brought upon by sun spots. When Simona runs into an American girl who turns up on her autopsy table the next day, dead from an apparent suicide, she finds herself wrapped up in a very large conspiracy that will have her questioning her own sanity and even investigating her own father.

Lake Mungo

The Plot: Alice Palmer is a spirited young girl who is beloved by her family and is a popular girl within her community. Unfortunately, tragedy strikes when she and her brother go swimming while out with her family. The young girl drowns, and her family are left reeling from this horrible event. As the weeks start to pass and her family tries to come to grips with this death, strange events start to happen around the Palmer home. This leads to the family setting up several cameras within the house and eventually ghostly footage begins to show up on tape. As the family tries to make heads or tails of this information, they are startled to find that their lovely young Alice also led a double life that few knew about.

The Plot: Temple Wood: A Quest for Freedom tells the story of Martin, a young student whose professor goes missing while investigating ancient practices set around an ancient burial ground in the Scottish highlands. Martin packs up his things, finds a small room for rent, and takes up his professor’s investigation of Temple Wood. However, he soon finds that his professor’s disappearance may be related to ancient druid practices and some very dark happenings within these highlands. As Martin explores, he finds that he finds himself digging deep into his own emotions and if he is ever allowed to leave these highlands – he will never be the same again.

The Plot: Rape! 13th Hour is the simple story of one man and his goal of continually raping everyone in sight. Okay, so maybe there is a little more to the story than that. Our story follows an unnamed man, credited as “Crimson,” who seems to rape a new woman every single day. Crimson runs into a doughy gas station attendant while trying to ditch a group of roaming homosexuals, some group who are chasing after him for unknown reasons, and these two become fast friends. Crimson intends to school the gas station attendant in his raping ways, and it seems that the attendant simply wants to have some form of authority in his life. As these two progress in their friendship, many lives are destroyed along the way.
