Cold Prey II coming to video

Cold Prey II coming from Shout! Factory on April 23rd

Being that I haven’t seen the original Cold Prey, I can hardly speak about the merits of this sequel – but I will say that the trailer looks quite good and I enjoy any movie that has artwork that features hot chicks holding guns. There are some slick visuals found in the trailer below this, so do check it out.

With all of this said, it has been announced that Shout! Factory have acquired the rights to this Norweigan horror title and they plan to bring it to the home video marketplace on April 23rd, 2013. The synopsis for the film reads as follows:
During the winter in 2006 four youth faced a brutal death in the Norwergian mountains of Jotunheimen. Only one woman named survived. Frozen and weak, Jannicke is brought to the local hospital, along with the body of the vicious mountain man whom she’d killed. But when she wakes up in the hospital, the building is dark and deserted…and she soon realizes that her nightmare is not yet over.

Dead Shadows coming to Shout! Factory

Posted by On February - 16 - 2013
I am a little late on reporting this, but it seems like pretty big news. The folks over at Shout! Factory (who I have other news on for later in this day) have attained the distribution rights for the French horror title Dead Shadows. The trailer looks like the movie is bound to deliver some fun body-horror as well as a lighthearted take on the horror genre. Check out the following plot synopsis and trailer, then see what you make of it while waiting on the DVD/Bluray sometime later this year.

David Cholewa’s first feature film DEAD SHADOWS tells the terrifying story about a young man, Chris, whose parents were brutally killed 11 years ago, on the same day that the comet of Haley could be seen from earth. Tonight, a new comet is going to appear and everyone in his building are getting ready for a party to celebrate the event. There’s even an apocalypse theory going around. As the night falls, Chris starts to discover that people are acting strange – and it seems to somehow be connected to the comet. People are becoming disoriented and violent and it doesn’t take long before they start mutating into something from beyond this world. In a fight for survival, Chris has to try to escape from his building with the help from some other tenants – but will they make it out alive?

The Plot: This sequel to the original Wandering Ginza Butterfly begins with a young woman named Hanae being transported in a van by a group of horny lunatics. They intend to take the young woman to her new home as a enslaved prostitute, but as they venture near a Hot Spring, Hanae takes off running and eventually crosses paths with Nami (Meiko Kaji). When Nami interrupts, she takes the young girl under her wing and goes to visit boss Okuma whom the girl was supposed to be contracted to. Nami, being a genius gambler, offers to play a game of cards for the girl’s freedom. Being the She-Cat Gambler, Nami of course wins, and this leads to her being wrapped up in a story involving Boss Okuma’s criminal organization as well as the man responsible for her father’s death.

V/H/S now on VHS!

V/H/S now on VHS!

V/H/S has received a rather mixed reception from many of my personal friends, but I must say that it was one of my favorite horror films of last year. While it probably isn’t purely a throwback title in the purest sense of the word, especially since one of the shorts in the movie features recorded Skype conversations, there is a certain amount of nostalgia to be felt within the movie. As of today, if you want to celebrate that nostalgia in its purest form, then you can do just that! V/H/S has now hit the VHS format. So, for those of you who still have a functional VCR, this awesome little gimmick might be too good to pass up.

If you want to grab a copy, then order it via right here!
