Kiss of the Damned: Red-band trailer

Posted by Josh Samford On March - 7 - 2013
Kiss of the Damned Xan Cassavetes, daughter of John Cassavetes, jumped to my personal attention after she released the amazing documentary Z Channel: A Magnificent Obsession, but I have still yet to see her direct anything nonfiction. It seems that Kiss of the Damned will be the first dramatic feature film that any of us get to see from the second-generation director. Judging by this trailer, Kiss of the Damned could be something special. Appearing very sexual and very off-kilter, the trailer makes the movie look very defiant. The movie will be available on iTunes/On Demand March 28, 2013, and in theaters May 3, 2013. This certainly seems like one to keep your eyes on. Check out the trailer below and leave your thoughts in the comments section.

More from Scream Factory: Dead Souls

Posted by Josh Samford On March - 7 - 2013
More news from the fine folks over at Scream Factory! I know very little about Dead Souls, other than it was a Chiller TV original movie and it features Bill Moseley, but I’m certainly up for a discovery. The trailer, which is attached at the bottom of this news item, looks fairly effective, so hopefully it will deliver! The Blu-ray and DVD will be hitting stores on June 25th.

Directed by Colin Theys (Steve Niles’ Remains) and written by John Doolan, DEAD SOULS stars Jesse James (The Amityville Horror, The Flyboys) as Johnny, Bill Moseley (Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, The Devil’s Rejects, House of 1,000 Corpses), Magda Apanowicz (The Butterfly Effect), Noah Fleiss (Brick), Jaiden Kaine (Hellbenders) and Geraldine Hughes (Rocky Balboa, Gran Torino).

On his 18th birthday, Johnny Petrie learns he was adopted when he inherits a farm in Maine , abandoned for the 18 years since his natural family died at the hands of his father, the local preacher. Eager for a new life, he leaves home to start over in his new dwelling. However, as he digs into his past, he soon uncovers the horrifying details of his father’s questionable teachings. In a frightening revelation, he also learns that his return has revived decades-old forces trapped in the home and sets in motion a heart-stopping finale to a ritual that already claimed the lives of his family.

This was dropped in the Varied Celluloid inbox yesterday but there was very little time to actually post about it, but Shout Factory’s side company Scream Factory have announced Blu-ray/DVD releases for both The Howling and one of my favorite bad-movies, Ninja III: The Domination. These are some pretty tremendous releases and I am personally over-the-moon about them. I honestly can’t express the joy that will overcome me whilst watching Ninja III: The Domination on Blu-ray. This is the reason that high definition was invented! As far as The Howling goes, what more could be said? When it comes to werewolf movies it continually shows up in the top three for most people. The Howling is slated for Blu-ray and DVD release on June 18th, while Ninja III is coming in a Blu-ray/DVD combo pack on June 11th. Here are the specs:

NINJA III: THE DOMINATION
Synopsis: Aerobic instructor Christie Ryder (Lucinda Dickey – Breakin’, Breakin’ 2: Electric Boogaloo) becomes possessed by the spirit of an evil ninja when she comes to his aid after being shot down. Dominated by the killer’s vicious and relentless rage, she sets out to brutally attack his enemies. Her boyfriend, confused by Christie’s changing personality and afraid that he might be her next victim, enlists the aid of Yamada (Shô Kosugi – Enter the Ninja, Revenge of the Ninja), the quintessential martial arts hero. In a life-threatening exorcism and ultimate fight to the death, Yamada proves that he is Christie’s only chance for survival. For only a ninja can kill another ninja!

THE HOWLING

Synopsis: Severely shaken after a near-fatal encounter with a serial killer, TV newscaster Karen White (Dee Wallace) takes some much-needed time off. Hoping to conquer her inner demons, she heads for “the Colony,” a secluded retreat where her new neighbors are just a tad too eager to make her feel at home. Also, there seems to be a bizarre link between her would-be attacker and this supposedly safe haven.

And when, after nights of being tormented by savage shrieks and unearthly cries, Karen ventures into the forest to find answers, she makes a terrifying discovery. Now she must fight not only for her life… but for her very soul!
