Re: Amer - a throwback to the giallo
That clip definitely got my attention. I'm not as knowledgeable about giallo as most of you (I think I've seen maybe two, and that's counting Death Laid an Egg) but that looks friggin' cool.

Re: Amer - a throwback to the giallo
It sounds like it'll be more a stylistic throwback to the genre rather than telling a giallo story. Still, I'm down.
That poster is pretty rad.

Definitely some interesting stuff going on there! That clip makes it seem like it'll be fairly disturbing for sure.

Re: Amer - a throwback to the giallo
I've been following it for awhile now--definitely looks like something Bava or Argento would have done. Early reports are that there's no real story to it (which makes it hard to classify as an actual giallo), but I don't even care--I'll deal with no story for intriguing visuals.

Re: Amer - a throwback to the giallo
Gotta dig that teaser with the girl biting metal, haha. Unnerving to say the least. Totally reminds me of the intro to Tetsuo: The Iron Man however. Anyway, yeah, totally interested in this. That trailer looks really fantastic. It just leaves me wanting more! Whether it makes sense or not, I'm sure I'll get what I want out of it. There are quite a few Giallos that ultimately didn't pack much of a plot either, so maybe it'll fit in alongside those 'arty' gialli pictures

Re: Amer - a throwback to the giallo
You hick, you used the plural form of giallo in a place that'd make more sense to use it singly ("giallo pictures"), and then went and added an S to the single form to make it plural, when it should have been gialli. Either say "giallos" and forget "gialli" altogether, or do it right! Ha ha. (Or maybe "gialli" was just a typo, in which case I'm a dick, ha ha.)
But yeah, I'd read that the filmmakers don't intend for it to be a giallo—it just has stylistic similarities to the genre.

Re: Amer - a throwback to the giallo
You bastard, it's two in the morning and I'm watching Shinjuku Triad Society while taking notes Which I've been doing now since... 11 or something like that? Really stretching this movie out, sheesh. While I trust your saying it, I don't care to re-read the post or edit it, but yarr whateva Going back to strange ITALIAN THRILLERS, The House with the Laughing Windows comes to mind. That was incredibly weirded out, although it did have a somewhat rational story going on in it.

Re: Amer - a throwback to the giallo
Maaaan... In Glasgow, this film is being screened, as is a supposedly fully uncut version of Fulci's A Lizard in a Woman's Skin. It claims to be 110 minutes, which would make it six minutes longer than the current most uncut version that's available (the US Media Blasters DVD that has "Remastered" plastered on the cover and the spine). Hopefully this means we'll have a true definitive—and totally nice-looking—version of the film on home video not long from now. :)
So jealous.

Re: Amer - a throwback to the giallo
Yeah, Twitch scored that sweet new trailer this morning, so I grabbed it (while giving them credit--everyone should read Twitch because it's a fantastic site). I really wish I were going to SXSW where this is screening next month. I'd like to catch both Amer and that fucked up looking Serbian Movie (actual title, not a generic descriptor :p) and both are playing there.
I contemplate just moving to Austin a lot lately...
