Motel Hell Remake Snags a Director
Hey did the sun rise in the East this morning? It did? Then that means we’ve got remake news!
Bloody Disgusting got the exclusive scoop last night concerning just who will be directing the re-imagining of cult horror/comedy flick Motel Hell. According to their sources, Steven C. Miller is the guy who’s landed the gig. If you don’t know who Miller is, go out now and rent his film Automaton Transfusion. It’s an cool little zombie flick made all the more impressive that the budget was lower than the cost of a new Mercedes (around 30 grand). It will be extremely interesting to see what Miller does with all this budget.
The original Motel Hell was released back in 1980. Rory Calhoun played the infamous Farmer Vincent-a guy who ran a roadside motel where unsuspecting guests wound up as the main ingredient in his sausage business.
Expect Motel Hell to hit the big screen sometime in 2010.

Man, I love Motel Hell. Kind of a bummer they’re remaking it. No matter what “enlightened” film geeks may say, remakes in my opinion do make it harder for older films to find their own audience. Newer horror fans are likely to see the remake, fall in love with the story there then see the stripped down older version and find it nowhere near as impressive as that first version of the story that they saw. Long live the legend of Farmer Vincent regardless! It takes all types of critters, to make Farmer Vincent’s fritters!

I am just so fired up for this. The original is an all time favorite of mine. Cannot wait to see what they do with it!
